This is the story of how my rabbitry started: I started raising and breeding
in 1999. At that time it was a venture that was to be a new hobby which would include a lot of great people and a lot
of fun.
I started with only two in his group of rabbits, one breed mini rex and one
Florida white. Not knowing much about breeding I took to the books! Learning from trial and error I made the run to a
rabbitry.
Starting in a small barn/shed. I built and made many friend in the rabbit community.
Gaining credit with the other breeders I made the name of R&C rabbitry stand out.
Getting acknowledgement for my fur and type my
rabbits were put out front. Between the knowledge that I held for the open class and the youth groups I helped a
lot of people, as well as making friends. During this time I was a prison guard, going to school at Ferris State university,
and trying to keep things going with my rabbits.
Then fate stepped in, in March of 2004 as we all know sometime fate can deal a bad hand.
Dealing with an offset of money issues I had to step out of the rabbit world for a short time.
Giving up what I had made from the start of just two rabbits to a rabbitry of
60 rabbits ranging from Florida whites, mini rex, California’s, min lops, Holland lops with a wide range of colors.
Selling all that I had vested into I was forced to step out for a short time.
The prison closed so my new direction was truck driving. This is
something I never thought would happen. The thought of going back to the rabbit community was always on my mind being
something I loved doing.
After some long thoughts I decided to make a go of it in June of
2005. A new rabbitry grew to be known as Flyingfurrabiry. Starting at the bottom once again was a difficult road, but with
the knowledge that I had and the eagerness to get started again I jumped back in to give the rabbit community
a run for there money.
With just eight mini rex rabbits to start with: blue, broken and red. The road was not
only a difficult one but long. Being thankful to all that was a part of my journey, I moved quickly back to where I am
today!
